Paxton Street Hostel
Paxton St hostel is situated in the heart of the city, we provide 13 beds for homeless men and women. Residents who live at the hostel are committed to making positive changes to their lifestyles and co-operate with the delivery of person centred, one-to-one support.
Prospective residents can access the hostel through the Gateway project or self–referral on the day we have a vacancy, we do not operate a waiting list. The hostel is staffed by 2 project workers, 24hrs a day in order to provide stability and security to the residents we support. The staff team consists of a Hostel Manager, Senior Project Worker, 5 project workers and 2 night project workers assisted by sessional workers. The staff are a highly trained, dedicated team whose aim is to offer empathic, practical support to enable our residents to move-on into appropriate accommodation.
We work closely with our managing partners, Family Housing Association, to provide high quality accommodation and services to the people we support. We liaise and work with a variety of services across the city including, Housing Options, probation, substance misuse services and other homelessness services.
The hostel offers a residents lounge, laundry and 2 meals daily. We hold regular residents meetings and residents are encouraged to participate in these. Each resident is allocated a key-worker on arrival and will work closely with them to address their support needs. Residents who successfully address their needs are referred to local housing providers and are moved into supported or independent accommodation. We offer a resettlement service to residents moving into their own homes in order that they have the skills to successfully maintain their tenancy.

The location of the hostel in Castle Ward reflects the eclectic mix of housing in the area, student accommodation, commercial premises, social housing and residential homes and reflects the diversity in the area. The hostel is situated in a residential area close to HMP Swansea, the Civic Centre and all the amenities of the city centre.
We work closely with local residents to ensure that any issues are dealt with promptly, we share information with them. We liaise with the local police and community representatives, we also attend PACT meetings regularly.
